LCC 1031 TOEFL Preparation
TOEFL Preparation is designed for non-native speakers of English who plan to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The course will familiarize students with the structure and content of the new integrated skills approach used in the next generation TOEFL, review question types from the four major sections of the exam (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), and discuss proven test-taking strategies.
Schedule: TTh for six weeks (time to be arranged)
Semesters: Fall, spring, summer
Cost: $220.00
LCC 1032 English Pronunciation for Non-Native Speakers
English Pronunciation for Non-Native Speakers is designed for non-native speakers who desire to improve their pronunciation of English. The course will focus on both individual sounds and on sound groups (syllables, words, and thoughts). It will include instruction on word stress (pitch, length, and clarity), stress patterns, and rhythm; and thought units (reductions, basic emphasis patterns, and questions).
It is important to understand at the outset that pronunciation difficulties develop over time, and that it is not realistic to expect them to disappear in only a few months. This course, however, will give students an excellent start in correcting their errors and in monitoring their pronunciation in the future.
Schedule: MW for ten weeks (time to be arranged)
Semesters: Fall, spring, summer
Cost: $220.00
LCC 1034 Cross Cultural Communication

It also helps students adapt to teaching styles in the American university classroom.
