TOEFL Waiver

Students who have successfully completed Level 6 in the Language and Culture Center are not required to present a TOEFL score when seeking undergraduate admission to the University of Houston.

Students seeking graduate admission are still required to present a satisfactory TOEFL score:

  1. Graduate programs in Law - 600 minimum (computer-based total, or CBT, 250 minimum)

  2. Graduate programs in Business - 620 minimum (CBT 260 minimum)

  3. Graduate programs in Hotel and Restaurant Management - 600 minimum (CBT 250 minimum)

  4. Graduate programs in the School of Communication - 600 minimum (CBT 250 minimum)

  5. Graduate program in Applied English Linguistics - 620 minimum (CBT 260 minimum)

  6. Other graduate programs - 550 minimum (CBT 213 minimum)

For students seeking undergraduate admission to the University of Houston and not planning to take level 6 in the Intensive English Program, the TOEFL requirement is a minimum of 550 (CBT of 213).
